Our
CEO, Philip Howard Collector, was born in Baltimore.
As a child his parents never knew where to find him because he was always
in and out of the neighbor’s houses. The success of Intercoastal
Investment Trust today is based in part in Phil’s continuing curiosity
and passion for houses.
But this was not Phil’s first career. He was in
the music business as a successful concert promoter, record producer and
talent manager, back in the mid-sixties and early seventies. After retiring
to Aspen, Colorado Phil got bored and moved to the San Francisco area
to continue his education. There he became a licensed real estate broker
in the very active California market of the late seventies, early eighties.
Phil then returned to Baltimore and realized that being
a broker simply wasn’t satisfying enough. He preferred to act as
principal; purchasing his own properties to renovate and
resell and to wholesale “as is” to other investors.
Phil also realized what was to become one of the core
values at iiTrust: that sellers of homes in the first time home buyer
price range weren’t getting a fair shake from realtors. As a result,
Phil pioneered the development of purchasing houses for cash as a full-blown
business in the Baltimore real estate market. A business that has since
grown beyond the reaches of Baltimore. |
